My name is Giorgos ( pronunciation 😜).
I am a Scientist at pod.
I received my Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Maryland, where I was co-advised by Charalampos (Babis) Papamanthou and Jonathan Katz.
My research focused on Byzantine consensus protocols, their efficiency metrics under harsh adversarial conditions and their applications in blockchains and cryptocurrencies.
I completed part of my Ph.D. as a Visiting Assistant in Research at Yale University.
Before that, I also received an M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Maryland, and a B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Computer Science from the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB).
My research interests are focused in Cryptography and Security, while I am also interested in Complexity and Algorithms.
Currently I am mostly working in research topics related to Consensus, its relation to MPC, DKG and other topics and their applications in Blockchains and Cryptocurrencies.
During the summer of 2023 I worked as a Research Intern at MystenLabs,
where I was mentored by Lefteris Kokoris-Kogias.
My main project was related to studying the effect of dynamic allocation of leader nodes in DAG-based consensus, which led to HammerHead.
During the summer and fall of 2024 I also worked as a Research Intern at Chainlink Labs,
where we studied and analyzed open questions related to consensus protocols' synchronization. My main project included a research paper we are currently preparing, as well as related protocol implementation in Golang.
